Jeweled up!

My mother in law is visiting and since her b’day is coming up soon, I decided to make something for her. My latest love is jewelry making and she loves big earring so my sister in law and I picked a design we think she’ll like. So this weekend I got the necessary supplies and got to work. Here’s the inspiration photo:

And this is what I ended up with:

If you arent into jewelry but want to learn, earrings are a great way to start. It’s not a lot of investment and they are really easy to begin.

Of course I wasn’t going to keep my supplies way just yet so here’s another thing I made for myself. This was SUPER easy. I saw the design on my local bead store’s website: http://www.lilysbeads.com and the owner of that store helped me pick out the supplies.

The beads are dyed pink jade even though it appears red in the photo. In this, the beads were just strung onto the silver beading chain and crimped into place with tiny crimp beads.

Jodi you’d be so proud of me!

It’ll all come together…

So I’ve decided that Teal is a my favorite color right now and it all started with this lovely wollmeise yarn I bought on Tini’s recommendation in Germany. That yarn later on became these gorgeous socks (they are a pair of course, I was too excited to wait for next one to take a photo 🙂 ).

Now, since the Wollmeise yarn is approx. 150 grams and my socks only needed about 90 gms, I even squeezed out these cute little wristlets from it.

Next came this solid teal rayon jersey from Paron fabrics in NYC at the PR Weekend 2007 in NYC.

Now, I knew that this will be a solid shirt so when I took the silk painting scarf class a few weeks ago, I wanted to make a scarf which will go with this shirt, so here it is.

My local bead shop gives free classes each month. I took advantage of it today and came back home with this super cute necklace I designed myself!

The teal fabric is going to be a short sleeved Jalie 2794. It only needs about an hour of work. I am starting this blog post today so it’ll encourage me to finish the wristlets and the top I am sewing. And then… I can’t wait to show you the whole thing.

I just love how everything just fell into place starting from yarn to the necklace. Color really does inspire me!
